The team at Stone Lotus Landscapes specialise in transforming outdoor spaces into personalised retreats. For the 2020 South Coogee project, we turned a dated, underused split-level yard into a luxury resort-style oasis, integrating designated zones that offer both relaxation and entertainment.
Scope of Work
For the South Coogee project, the following tasks were undertaken:
Site Assessment and Planning:
We carefully assessed the existing level changes, which we then used to create distinct zones for relaxation, dining, and entertainment. Our goal was to maximise the space’s potential while ensuring the layout flowed seamlessly with the family’s lifestyle.
Design, Planting, and Installation:
The design focused on creating a resort-like atmosphere, integrating the existing levels into the layout. A fully tiled pool, surrounded by expansive Spotted Gum decking, offered ample space for lounging. An elevated sunbed was placed amongst the garden to overlook the pool, while the lower levels featured an outdoor dining area with a woodfire pizza oven and barbecue. Olive trees, Ligularia Reniformis, and Prostrate Rosemary were carefully selected for their resilience and ability to thrive in the coastal environment, adding both colour and texture to the space. Barrimah Stone Walling was used to define and enhance the garden beds.
Clean Up:
After construction, our team ensured the site was left clean and ready for immediate use. We removed all debris, made sure all design elements were correctly installed, and conducted a final inspection to ensure everything was in perfect condition.
Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability was a key consideration for the South Coogee project. The selection of drought-tolerant plants like Ligularia Reniformis and Prostrate Rosemary, along with the use of durable materials such as Spotted Gum decking, ensured the garden would thrive with minimal environmental impact. We aimed for long-lasting, low-maintenance solutions to reduce the need for ongoing resource consumption.
Outcome
The South Coogee project successfully transformed a once underutilised yard into a private, resort-style retreat. The combination of dedicated zones for lounging, dining, and cooking, along with custom planting and high-quality materials, created a harmonious and inviting outdoor space. The result is a functional yet luxurious garden perfect for family relaxation and entertaining.
