The team at Stone Lotus Landscapes specialise in transforming small outdoor spaces into functional and stylish retreats. For the 2020 Inner City Courtyard, we created a modern, inviting garden that complements the owner’s interior renovation while maximising the use of limited space.
Scope of Work
For the Inner City Courtyard, the following tasks were undertaken:
Site Assessment and Planning:
We assessed the courtyard’s layout, with a focus on maximising its small footprint. The goal was to create a space that felt open and airy, while also being functional and visually appealing, blending seamlessly with the modern interiors.
Design, Planting, and Installation:
The design embraced modern simplicity, with a focus on creating an inviting yet low-maintenance space. Mondo grass was used in channel patterns to add greenery and define two seating areas: a low lounging area with loose furniture and a secondary seating space with a built-in ‘L’-shaped bench. The clean lines and simple materials maintain a spacious feel while adding functional zones for relaxation and socialising.
Clean Up:
After installation, our team thoroughly cleaned the site, ensuring all elements were carefully placed and the space was ready for use. We removed any debris and finalised the design details, ensuring the courtyard felt fresh and welcoming.
Commitment to Sustainability
For this project, we focused on using sustainable, low-maintenance plantings that would thrive in a compact space. Mondo grass was selected for its hardiness and minimal water needs, making it an ideal choice for a space where simplicity and sustainability were key considerations.
