For the 2014 Bondi Courtyard project, we created a private and low-maintenance space that blends rustic charm with contemporary design, incorporating recycled materials to enhance the eco-friendly vibe.
Scope of Work
For the Bondi Courtyard Project, the following tasks were undertaken:
Site Assessment and Planning:
We assessed the site to understand the challenges and opportunities of the space. The goal was to create a private, functional courtyard that incorporated the client’s desire for an eclectic, rustic feel while maintaining a contemporary edge. We also considered the surrounding environment, including the block of units at the rear, to ensure privacy.
Design, Planting, and Installation:
The design focused on maximising space through careful levelling and strategic planting. A bespoke hardwood screen with a vertical garden was built on-site, offering privacy while serving as a dramatic backdrop. Recycled bricks, bluestone paving, and alpine stone walling created a rustic, industrial aesthetic that complemented the semi. The installation included an irrigation system, ensuring the vertical garden and other plantings required minimal maintenance. Carefully positioned lighting accentuated the design features, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Clean Up:
Once the construction was complete, our team ensured the site was cleared and the garden was ready for use. The vertical garden and other plantings were properly installed and fully functional, adding both beauty and practicality to the space.
Outcome
The Bondi Courtyard was transformed into a serene sanctuary that perfectly matched the client’s vision. The combination of recycled materials, thoughtful design, and functional elements created a space that is both stylish and low-maintenance, ideal for everyday use and relaxation.
