The team at Stone Lotus Landscapes specialise in creating versatile, family-friendly outdoor spaces. For the 2016 Maroubra project, we designed a relaxed and functional garden that accommodates both outdoor entertainment and family play, all while reflecting the coastal environment.
Scope of Work
For the Maroubra Project, the following tasks were undertaken:
Site Assessment and Planning:
We assessed the space with a focus on creating a functional, family oriented design that incorporated both social and recreational areas. The goal was to design a space that embraced the coastal surroundings while being easy to maintain for a busy family.
Design, Planting, and Installation:
We incorporated a large covered entertaining area, perfect for gatherings, along with a grassy play area for children. Hardy, water-wise plants such as Coastal Rosemary and Chalksticks were chosen for their suitability to the local climate. The raised garden beds, framed with Corten steel, not only provided structure and definition but also served as an elegant solution for managing the space’s layout. Bluestone steppers were added for easy navigation between zones.
Clean Up:
After completing the construction and planting, we made sure the site was cleared of all debris, leaving the space clean, functional, and ready for the family to enjoy.
Outcome
The Maroubra garden has been transformed into a functional and welcoming space for the family. The design successfully blends a coastal planting scheme with family-friendly features like a spacious lawn and covered entertaining area. The use of Corten steel and hardwood sleepers adds a natural, modern touch to the overall aesthetic, ensuring the garden is both practical and stylish.
